Collin is an architectural researcher, designer, and builder. He owns and operates a design build company focusing primarily on high-end residential construction in Los Angeles. His approach is to learn everything he can about his clients, come up with the rudiment of an idea for a project and carry it all the way through schematics, construction documents, and construction until the project is built.
We like to think that time is the most precious resource that we have. What time do you cherish most?
My work and my family are everything to me.
How do you manage your time between so many tasks?
Although my projects take years to complete, they are the product of a million small decisions and actions taken every minute of every day. Some days I am on site coordinating tradesmen, other days I am in meetings with clients or on my computer creating or reviewing drawings. Every day is different.
To our product development team, luxury craftsmanship and innovation are the foremost influences on our watch designs. Where in your life do you find the most creative inspiration?
I draw a lot of inspiration from old school architects and visionaries like Paul Rudolph, Reyner Banham, or Richard Neutra - figures who contemplated the norm, pushed the limits and created new theories of how we could live. I also often look to furniture designers, artists, and sculptures alike to find inspiration outside of architecture.
What do you like most about your Mondaine watch?
My work is defined by precision, clarity, and fine detail - exactly as reflected in my Mondaine. It is a cornerstone of my style, my values, and keeps me balanced and calculated with my time.
